Drawbacks in Leeds United’s summer transfer policy are hitting the Whites hard as they try to navigate a confidence-draining eight-match winless streak. The upside in recruiting younger players at lower fees with room to improve can come at the cost of short-term inexperience.
While the likes of Joe Gelhardt, Crysencio Summerville and Wilfried Gnonto are being discussed as junior solutions for Leeds, Marsch has flagged how young his first-choice players still are. The likes of Brenden Aaronson, Tyler Adams, Luis Sinisterra and Rasmus Kristensen need time to develop too, but the frontline of a relegation scrap is a tough place for growth.
Asked how he felt about giving more of his under-21 stars match times, Marsch said: “Cry started on Thursday and we brought him in again today because we believe he has a big future.

“Even a lot of the players, Brenden and Luis and Tyler and Rasmus and some of the guys we brought in, they're all young too and they need to develop into the Premier League-experienced players we know they can become.
“It's difficult to explain why we can't capitalise and why we give certain things away, but I'm not finger-pointing, I'm looking directly at myself. I'm taking responsibility.
“I'm trying to push them to understand how to get better and we have to demand that now for the next game. We have to do everything we can again to try to figure out how to get the win.”
While the likes of Aaronson, Adams and Sinisterra have proven promising summer signings, Marsch does not want their ages to be forgotten in the search for answers why Leeds may be struggling in some games. They need patience and time too, just like the Summervilles and Gelhardts of the group.
