Adding another midfielder to Jesse Marsch's options was always a priority for Victor Orta this summer and it appears that Leeds United's director of football is closing in on his man in the shape of Bayern Munich's Marc Roca. According to reports, Leeds are ahead of six other teams in the race for the ex-Espanyol midfielder.
Despite having his game time limited since moving to the Allianz Arena, Roca still maintains a strong reputation in European football as the 25-year-old was thought of one of the best young midfielders in Spain during his spell at Espanyol, with many believing it was only a matter of time before he would break into the senior set-up of the national team. However, he found it too difficult to break into the Bayern team ahead of Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka, having made the move to the Bundesliga in summer 2020.
As such, the German champions are willing to let him go for a fee of just over £12million, according to 90min.com. They state that Wolves, West Ham and Eintracht Frankfurt have been 'looking closely' at Roca, while Villarreal, Sevilla and Real Betis have also been in touch Bayern.

The report goes on to claim that Leeds' offer of around £12million is set to see them win the race as they hope to seal a deal this week, although the club still 'fear' rival interest.
Should Roca make the move to Elland Road, he would become the third senior signing of the summer, following Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen to the club. A striker and a back-up goalkeeper are also expected to be signed, whilst the club are aware of strong interest in Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips and would also make moves to replace them, should they be unable to hang onto their stars. As such, Orta's busy summer seems likely to continue.
