Leeds United's relegation rivals have given themselves a 'fighting chance' after draw at Newcastle

Leeds United's relegation rivals Leicester City have given themselves a 'fighting chance' of survival after keeping a clean sheet to earn a point against Newcastle United, according to Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher. The Premier League relegation battle will come to a head on the final day of the season on Sunday, with two from Leeds, Leicester, and Everton set to join Southampton in next year's Championship.

On paper, Leeds have the toughest final day assignment at home to Spurs, while Leicester are at home to West Ham, and Everton face Bournemouth at Goodison Park. Going into that final round of fixtures, Leeds and Leicester occupy the two relegation slots and are locked on 31 points - albeit the Foxes have a much better goal difference than Sam Allardyce's Whites - while Everton are fourth-bottom with 33 points.

Both Leeds and Leicester know they have to win to stand a chance, and even that might not be enough depending on how Everton fare. Speaking on Monday Night Football, Carragher says Leicester's goalless draw against Newcastle at St James' Park has given them hope, with Dean Smith's side keeping their first league clean sheet since November when they beat the Hammers 3-0 at the London Stadium.

"Playing as badly as Leicester have been, you have to take something from that - their first clean sheet [since November]," said Carrragher. "Going into that game [against Newcastle], you talk about getting three points and getting out of the relegation zone, going there the players will all be feeling it, feeling that if they lose that game they will be virtually out of it.

"They've still got a fighting chance and now it does put a lot of pressure on Everton, there's no doubt about that, because Everton will be favourites to stay up. To get the first clean sheet, it's something to build on before the West Ham game and they will think if they can go and win that game...

"I think every team down there will feel that they can win that last game, whoever they are coming up against but they won't all win."
