New data has emerged from specialists Nielsen's Gracenote, as per the BBC, showing how many points would guarantee survival for Leeds United this season. Javi Gracia's side are up to 14th in the table with a win over Wolves in their last outing prior to the international break.
However, there are only four points separating Crystal Palace in 12th and basement boys Southampton - the least amount of points separating 12th-20th in Premier League history. The Whites parted company with Jesse Marsch following defeat to fellow strugglers Nottingham Forest in February, with Gracia tasked with keeping Leeds in the top flight.
The Leeds hierarchy were hoping to avoid a repeat of last season, where they survived on the final day of the season with a win over Brentford and Burnley suffering defeat at Newcastle. With some tough games on the horizon, it could go down to the wire again.

Gracia's side still have to play Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, Newcastle and Tottenham before the curtain falls. They'll need to pick up some surprise points from those games and beat the teams around them if they're to reach the magic mark this season.
The Whites have 26 points from 27 games and have just 11 fixtures remaining to ensure survival. The data specialists believe 13 points from their remaining games would all but secure survival for the Whites, but they could stay up on less than that.
Leeds re the only one of the relegation candidates to have won two of their past four matches, with Wolves, Everton, West Ham, Bournemouth and Southampton picking up just one win in their past four. The other three struggling teams have all failed to win in the same time frame.
Here's a look at how many points Leeds would need for survival.
Points | Chance of safety |
39 or more | 100% |
38 | 98% |
37 | 93% |
36 | 75% |
35 | 50% |
34 | 23% |
33 | 7% |
32 | 2% |
31 or fewer | 0% |
