Leeds United make their long-awaited return to Premier League action this weekend as they host Aston Villa at Elland Road. The Whites have had a 29-day break from when the whistle blew for full time in the 5-2 defeat at Brentford to 4.30pm on Sunday, when Steven Gerrard’s side travel to West Yorkshire.
Matches against both Nottingham Forest and Manchester United were postponed due to the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. Then came along the international break, meaning Jesse Marsch’s side have been forced to endure a massively unwanted period of time with no games.
That said, what the break has allowed Leeds to do is get some of their injured players back to full fitness. The likes of Patrick Bamford, Junior Firpo, Liam Cooper, Luke Ayling and Rodrigo Moreno are all likely to be in contention this Sunday.

So with that in mind, here is a look at all of Leeds’ results post-international break since they were promoted to the Premier League.
Wins – one
Leeds have managed just one win in their seven matches played directly after the international break. That came during their first season back in the Premier League, beating Sheffield United 2-1 at Elland Road.
Draws – two
Leeds have picked up draws against both Arsenal and Southampton. The former ended 0-0 in the 2020/21 campaign, and the latter 1-1 during the backend of last term.
Defeats – four
That means Leeds have lost their remaining four matches after the international break, pointing towards a relatively poor record. The Whites were beaten 1-0 by Wolves two years ago, before losing three on the bounce last season against Liverpool (0-3), Southampton (1-0) and Tottenham (2-1).
