Leeds United's March fixtures analysed as historic foes and relegation rivals await

Leeds United will be looking to build some momentum under new head coach Javi Gracia during March, after ending last month with a crucial 1-0 win over Southampton.

Junior Firpo's 77th-minute strike handed Gracia a winning start in the Elland Road dugout, and saw Leeds climb out of the relegation zone.

They also ended a run of 10 league matches without a win, and Gracia will be determined to consolidate his debut win when Leeds travel to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea on Saturday.

With that in mind, LeedsLive have taken a closer look at this month's fixtures, ahead of another crucial period for Leeds...

Chelsea (a)

It feels rather strange to suggest that a result against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge could be a real possibility, but Leeds will definitely fancy their chances.

Chelsea have won just two of their last 15 Premier League games, and lost their previous outing 1-0 at Stamford Bridge against bottom-place Southampton, who Leeds of course defeated last weekend.

Graham Potter is under increasing pressure, and knows that his job is hanging by the thinnest of threads. Another defeat and the Chelsea boss could very well find himself out of a job, and this is something Leeds must capitalise on.

Brighton (h)

Brighton have proven a tough nut to crack for most sides in the Premier League this season. Only Arsenal (31); Manchester City (24), and Manchester United (20) have amassed more league points than Brighton (18) on the road.

Furthermore, only Arsenal (25) and Man City (23) have scored more away goals than the Seagulls (22). Leeds will be buoyed by the fact that four of their five league wins have come at Elland Road, but Roberto De Zerbi's side will inevitably head into the contest as favourites.

Wolves (a)

Wolves look a very different side to the one which Leeds defeated 2-1 on the opening day. They won just one of their opening 10 games, and Bruno Lage lost his job at Molineux as a result.

Julen Lopetegui took over after the World Cup, with Wolves sat at the foot of the table and having accumulated just 10 points from a possible 38.

However, the former Spain and Real Madrid boss has amassed 14 points in his first nine games to send the Black and Gold three points clear of the drop zone, ahead of Wednesday night's trip to Anfield.
