Leeds United's Kalvin Phillips mocked for 'clown shoes' after snap with fan goes viral

Football fans have been sticking the boot into Leeds United hero Kalvin Phillips over his his ‘unique’ footwear.

Phillips, 26, who starred at last summer’s European Championships for England, is one of the most popular players in the Leeds United squad. Because he is Leeds born and bred, he’ll also make time for the club’s supporters.

It is actually while stopping to sign autographs for a Leeds United fan that he’s gone viral. Many couldn’t believe the footwear Phillips was wearing in the snap.

There’s no denying the sand-coloured boots certainly catch the eye. Many football fans have taken to Twitter to make some witty observations.

We saw @Abdool111 post: “All in the name of fashion.” @olliejama said: “Clown shoes.”

Another @j60nta2 joked: “He's been struggling with injury so much recently, @Kalvinphillips has given both his feet the sack!” We saw @blakeydp post: “Homer Simpson’s boots. Bizarre.”

A post from @King_Kong_83 read: “The most tragic part of that is he will have handed over the equivalent of a normal working person’s monthly wage to parade about with KFC delivery bags on his feet.” @dund93 added: “Imagine turning up to play for your Sunday Morning team wearing them. You’d be slagged to tears and rightly so.”

To be honest, Kalvin Phillips can obviously wear whatever he likes off the pitch if he helps Leeds United preserve their Premier League status. You can find the latest Whites news by visiting our Leeds United homepage.
