Leeds United's double transfer swoop on brink as Daniel James given permission to speak to Tottenham, Everton and Leicester City

The future of Daniel James at Leeds United is in the balance as the Whites wait on deals of their own.

James has, in recent days, been linked with a move away from Elland Road, just a year after crossing the Pennines from Manchester United.

Last season was up and down for the Wales winger, who featured more regularly than he did at Old Trafford, albeit in a team which struggled at the wrong end of the Premier League table.

In slightly surprising news, Tottenham have shown an interest in prising the 24-year-old away from Yorkshire, with Everton, Leicester City and Fulham also said to be keen on him.

The Telegraph report James is now in limbo, with Leeds waiting on the result of their chase of PSV’s Cody Gakpo or Wolves' Hwang Hee-chan - their two main targets - before deciding on what to do with the former Swansea City man. The club have granted James permission to speak to potential suitors, though.

Other national reports state James' move to Champions League side Spurs is now looking increasingly unlikely; however, James knows a thing or two about deadline-day dashes, with circumstances changing quickly.

James will want guarantees over game-time ahead of the World Cup with Wales this winter.
