Leeds United's Brenden Aaronson earns rave reviews from Sky Sports pundit duo

While Leeds United may have lost to Crystal Palace 2-1 on Sunday afternoon, midfielder Brenden Aaronson earned a host of plaudits from a pair of Sky Sports pundits.

The American international produced a mazy jinking run through the Palace defence in the first half before taking a shot that left the post rattling.

Had he scored, it would have been a goal of the season contender. So deft was Aaronson's movement, it was almost mesmerising to watch him beat defender after defender.

While Aaronson's did not score, his strike rebounded off the post to Leeds defender Pascal Struijk, who managed to fire home past Palace goalkeeper Vicente Guaita to give the Whites a first half lead.

The American's solo run left Sky Sports pundits Alan Smith and Jamie Redknapp in awe, with the pair both giving Aaronson plenty of praise after the Struijk goal.

"Well, what a run that was from Brenden Aaronson," said commentator Smith.

"It was absolutely sensational! He gets fouled a couple of times along the way, he stumbles through challenges, but he always keeps control of this football. He’s practically beaten the whole of the Palace defence on his own here.

"Wonderful stuff from him and just as you think the chance has gone, Struijk’s on-hand to keep his head and keep the ball down.

"It’s been a typically adventurous, positive start from Leeds and they get their reward."

And Smith's words were echoed by Redknapp at half-time, with the former Liverpool midfielder hailing Aaronson's impressive dribbling.

"This is just magnificent," said Redknapp when reviewing Aaronson's run.

"He gets it with three or four men around him and if he scores that it’s probably goal of the season."
