It's safe to say January 2023 has been a real break from tradition for Leeds United.
As the window draws to a close, the Whites have made four additions in the form of Max Wober, Georginio Rutter, Weston McKennie and Diogo Monteiro and from Hoffenheim and Red Bull Salzburg, with Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie and Servette teenage defender Diogo Monteiro. The deal for Rutter break the club's transfer record and should McKennie's loan become permanent as planned in the summer, another fee in excess of £30m will be paid out.
In the past, the Whites have not always looked to use the January transfer window to their advantage.

Last season, it nearly saw them relegated. Leeds desperately needed to strengthen in January 2022 and chose not to, narrowly surviving on the final day of the season with a win over Brentford.
However, it seems Victor Orta and co have learned their lesson this time around, adding depth all over the park.
And with that in mind, LeedsLive took a look at three of the Whites past transfer windows to see how they compare to their 2023 counterpart...
2016/17 - Pablo Hernandez signs on permanently
The 2016/17 January transfer window was a relatively quiet one for Leeds.
While the Whites added the likes of Modou Barrow and Alfonso Pedraza, the one key addition they made was in the form of Spaniard Pablo Hernandez, who signed on a permanent for Leeds from Qatari side Al-Arabi after arriving on-loan at Elland Road in the summer.
Hernandez came in and was nothing short of magnificent for the Whites. The midfielder just oozed class for Leeds and was a major part in their push for the Championship play-offs that season.
While Leeds narrowly missed out on making the play-offs, finishing seventh, Hernandez would go on to play a major part in helping the Whites back to the Premier League three seasons later under Marcelo Bielsa.
2019/20 - The infamous Jean-Kevin Augustin deal
While Leeds did add Pascal Struijk to their ranks in January 2020, the winter transfer window that year will be remembered for all the wrong reasons - namely the signing of French forward Jean-Kevin Augustin.
A promising French youth international who had made a host of appearances for Les Blues in their age grade ranks, Augustin arrived at Elland Road from RB Leipzig to help Leeds' push for automatic promotion from the Championship.
But the loan move, which had the potential to be an excellent one for the Whites, quickly soured. During his time with the Whites, Augustin made just three appearances for Bielsa before having his move terminated
The real issue with the Augustin transfer however was the fact Leeds included an obligation to buy clause in the initial loan deal which would see them fork out £18m should they get promoted.
While Leeds claimed the COVID-19 pandemic 'nullified' their deal for Augustin, the Court of Arbitration for Sport did not agree, ordering the Whites to pay the £18m fee in November 2022. The two parties then came to an agreement over the settlement.
2012/13 - Becchio departs
The 2012/13 January transfer window will be remembered for Leeds' decision to sell Luciano Becchio to Norwich City in a move that saw Steve Morison head the other way.
Late in January 2013, Becchio, who was Leeds' highest earner at the time, put in a transfer request. The news came as hammer blow to the Whites, with the Argentine having scored 19 goals in 31 appearances so far that term.
In the end, Norwich signed the forward, with Morison moving to Elland Road in a swap deal.
However, it's safe to say the move did not work out for Leeds. Becchio's keen eye for goal was replaced by Morison, who scored only three goals in 16 appearances in the second half of the season.
Clearly Leeds weren't massively keen on Morison either, with the striker then being loaned out the following season to Millwall.
