Leeds United rumours: Barcelona still confident on Raphinha as Wolves lead Minamino race

Here are the latest Leeds United transfer rumours on Sunday, 12 June 2022.

Raphinha, Barcelona update

Barcelona are still confident that Raphinha will be a Barcelona player at the end of the transfer window. That is according to SPORT, who claim that Xavi’s side will only make a move for the Leeds United man if Ousmane Dembele opts against signing a new deal at the Camp Nou.

Barcelona are reportedly ‘ready’ to make their move for the Brazilian and are expecting ‘calm negotiations’ with the Whites if a transfer is pursued. Their ongoing financial concerns mean a deal has stalled in recent weeks, when it had at one point looked almost certain.

Minamino race

Leeds United look to have fallen behind in the race to sign Liverpool forward Takumi Minamino, according to reports, with Wolves in pole position. The 27-year-old is due to leave Anfield this summer for around £17 million and has been linked with a move to Leeds and a reunion with former RB Salzburg manager Jesse Marsch.

But now Football Insider have reported that Wolves are leading the way, making contact with the club to negotiate a deal and with Minamino’s representatives to sort a contract. Bruno Lage’s side face competition from the Whites as well as Fulham and Southampton - where the Japan international spent the second half of the 2020/2021 season - but have acted swiftly and are willing to meet Liverpool’s demands.

Castellanos deal

New York City FC are yet to receive a suitable offer for Valentin Castellanos amid speculation over a move to Leeds United, according to 90min. The Argentinian striker has been hot property after leading NYCFC to MLS Cup glory thanks to 22 goals in 35 appearances last season and 11 in 18 so far this year.

He was offered to Manchester City, but the Premier League champions turned down the offer after signing Julian Alvarez and Erling Haaland - although they did recommend another top-flight side sign him. And the Whites have been the most interested party since then, sending representatives - including Angus Kinnear - to New York.

But the MLS club, who are keen to cash in on their talent, are yet to receive an offer which meets their demands and they look set to hold strong when it comes to negotiating.
