Leeds United rumours as Newcastle United still keen on Whites winger and Spurs eye Raphinha alternative

Here are the latest Leeds United transfer rumours on Tuesday, 28 June 2022.

Newcastle retain Harrison interest

Newcastle United remain interested in a summer move for Leeds United winger Jack Harrison, according to the Telegraph. The Magpies were linked with Harrison earlier in the window, though no official offer has yet been made.

Newcastle are seemingly in the market for a new wide man this summer, with Moussa Diaby and Raphinha also reported targets. Given Raphinha’s impending exit from Elland Road, with Arsenal currently leading the race, it is likely to take a substantial bid to tempt Leeds into selling Harrison.

The Whites are also on the verge of losing Kalvin Phillips to Manchester City and will not want to lose three of their key players in the same window.

Spurs eye Raphinha alternative

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly eyeing a move for Everton winger Anthony Gordon as a potential alternative to Leeds United’s Raphinha. That is according to Sky Sports, who claim that Spurs are plotting a double swoop on the Toffees with fellow attacker Richarlison also a target.

Spurs are thought to be in the race for Raphinha this summer, but with Arsenal seemingly at the front of the queue, they have now moved onto other targets. Antonio Conte is already well stacked with options in attack and so if this double deal is successful, a move to Spurs for Raphinha would be off the table.

Man United close in on de Jong

Manchester United have moved closer to an agreement with Barcelona for Frenkie de Jong after fresh talks on Monday. That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who claims that the two clubs are in discussions over a deal that could reach €85 million including add-ons.

Barcelona’s financial issues have been well documented this summer, but a high-profile sale could allow them to swoop for some of their targets. Leeds United’s Raphinha is said to be one of them, though their slowness in the market has seemingly allowed Arsenal to steal a march.
