Here are the latest Leeds United transfer rumours on Friday, 8 April 2022.
Ayling future claim
Leeds United defender Luke Ayling has revealed he would like to stay at Elland Road for the remainder of his career. Ayling has been a main stay in the Leeds starting XI ever since his move from Bristol City in 2016 and has established himself as an iconic figure at the club.
The 30-year-old is out of contract at the Whites in 2023 and so Leeds have a big decision on their hands as to whether to hand him a new deal. But in an interview with the Daily Mirror, via Leeds All Over, Ayling has insisted he would like to stay at Leeds until the time comes to hang up his boots.
He said: “I’d love to spend the rest of my life in Leeds. I love it here. I brought my family here and I’d live here for the rest of my life. Ideally I’d love to stay here for the rest of my career, but football is a cut-throat business and who knows what’s in the future.”

New Phillips update
Reports emerged from the Manchester Evening News on Thursday morning that Manchester United were ‘advancing’ in a move for Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips. However, a fresh claim from journalist Jonathan Shrager suggests otherwise.
He claims that no talks have taken place between Leeds and the Red Devils over a deal for Phillips as things stand. The likes of Aston Villa, Newcastle United and West Ham have also been linked with a move for the 26-year-old, however if Leeds stay in the Premier League, a new long-term contract could be in the offing.
Leeds target set for Bayern
Leeds United-linked Ajax right-back Noussair Mazraoui is reportedly on the verge of a move to Bayern Munich this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano. Some reports had claimed Mazraoui was on the radar of the Whites ahead of the upcoming window with his contract in Amsterdam set to expire.
Mazraoui had also been in talks with a move to Barcelona in recent months, and his decision to move to Bayern could have an impact on Leeds’ reported pursuit of Sergino Dest. With a deal for Cesar Azpilicueta looking unlikely, Dest may now not be allowed to depart the Camp Nou this summer, meaning Leeds will have to take their right-back pursuit elsewhere.
