Leeds United reportedly see approach for Liverpool attacker rejected as transfer deadline approaches

Leeds United have reportedly seen an approach for Liverpool forward Takumi Minamino turned down.

That is according to reports, with French Ligue 1 side AS Monaco also having seen their interest rebuffed by the Reds, who are said to have no interest in losing Minamino this month.

The 27-year-old is currently behind the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino and Divock Origi for a place in the front three, although the latter has also been linked with a away from Merseyside, with his contract set to expire this summer.

Particularly in cup competitions, Minamino is seen as a decent squad option for Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp and with a Carabao Cup final on the horizon next month, it is reported that it will take a substantial offer to tempt Liverpool into selling.

Given Minamino’s ability to play both centrally and out wide, it remains to be seen whether Leeds have earmarked him as an alternative to Brenden Aaronson.

The Whites have been chasing Aaronson throughout this window and have seen two bids rejected, with Red Bull Salzburg reluctant to lose him at this stage of the season due to their upcoming Champions League last-16 tie with Bayern Munich.

Leeds, though, may also be scouring the market for a new winger as rumours over a Crysencio Summerville exit continue to bubble.

Marcelo Bielsa does not want to lose Summerville, but according to Bild, Bundesliga 2 side Hamburg are interested and he could be tempted due to a lack of game time at Elland Road.
