All four teams below the Whites lost their matches over the weekend, meaning Javi Gracia's men have the opportunity to extend the gap between them and the relegation zone to five points with a win over Jurgen Klopp's side.
In Saturday's matches, Everton fell victim to a 3-1 defeat to the hands of top-half Fulham while Southampton were beaten 2-0 by Crystal Palace who now seem clear of the threat of dropping into the Championship.

Elsewhere, Wolves moved five points in front of Leeds thanks to goals from Diego Costa and Hwang Hee-Chan as they beat Brentford 2-0 at Molineux.
A 95th-minute winner from Dango Ouattara meant Gary O'Neill's Bournemouth found another incredible win, this time over Tottenham in a 3-2 manner.
Sunday's results saw Leeds' nearest relegation rival West Ham come from 2-0 down against league leaders Arsenal to scrape a 2-2 draw thanks to goals from Said Benrahma and Jarred Bowen.
Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest's 2-0 defeat to Manchester United saw them fail to leapfrog the Whites and stay in the drop zone after Antony and Diogo Dalot converted from close range.
