Leeds United are reportedly interested in a "shock" transfer move for Nottingham Forest midfielder James Garner.
The Premier League side are said to have been tracking Garner since he joined Forest on loan from Manchester United in the summer.
Garner is "keen" to make it at Old Trafford, where he is under contract until the summer of 2024.
Southampton are also keeping a "close eye" on the midfielder, according to The Sun.
Forest would like to keep hold of the Man United loanee, but that is only a realistic option if Steve Cooper guides the Reds to promotion.
Ahead of Monday's FA Cup tie against Huddersfield, Cooper has tough decisions to make as the return of Max Lowe will likely mean one of Garner, Ryan Yates and Jack Colback being dropped from midfield.
On that thought process, Cooper said: “That’s the life of a head coach, making those decisions. I’d rather have those dilemmas than not.
“You’re always upsetting players with the teams you pick, because everybody wants to play. Certainly, at the moment everybody wants to play, which is a good thing.
“The more decisions we have to make on that front, the better. And we’ve certainly got them at the moment.
“It’s still early after Friday’s game, so we’ll see how we are. It was a demanding game physically, there’s no doubt about that. Looking at the stats this morning, it was a high-running game.
“We’ll see how the boys have recovered today and tomorrow, and try to get the right team out on Monday.”
