Former Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips made his World Cup debut for England in Tuesday night's 3-0 victory over Wales. The Three Lions sealed top spot in Group B with the win and will face Senegal on Sunday for a place in the quarter finals.
Phillips came off the bench with just over half an hour to play at the Al Rayyan Stadium to replace Declan Rice in holding midfield for his first appearance at the tournament. It did not take long for the 26-year-old to make an impact as his long ball over the top found the run of Marcus Rashford who netted his second of the evening.
Phillips is a popular figure throughout football at both club and international level and his social media has not been short of congratulatory messages following his debut on the biggest stage. Here is a round-up of just some of those he has received.
