Leeds United player ratings as Liam Cooper and Sam Greenwood shine in Watford win

Leeds United (4-2-3-1)

1 Illan Meslier

Came and dealt with what he needed to. Was proactive at set-pieces and commanding when faced with one vs one danger. 7

2 Luke Ayling

Exposed repeatedly as Emmanuel Dennis got in behind throughout the second half without ever punishing Leeds. Solid otherwise, but fitted in with the bitty rhythm of the game with some poor passes and caught out of position a few times. 6

14 Diego Llorente

Deserves credit for some crunching and important challenges, but given the run around by Joao Pedro throughout the afternoon and gave away possession cheaply with risky passes more than once. 6

6 Liam Cooper (c)

By far the best player on the pitch. Head and shoulders above the rest. Mopped up any danger which came through the backline, intercepted, anticipated, dominated in the air and always seem to play the right option unlike so many others. 8

15 Stuart Dallas

Like Ayling, exposed in this narrow system through the second half as Ismaila Sarr got in behind him repeatedly. Battled as well as usual, but lacked quality like everyone else. 6

5 Robin Koch

Just doesn't fit this role. Passing range or composure was not there to build anything for Leeds through the middle. Got turned time and time again by the Watford attacks through the centre. 5

43 Mateusz Klich

Looked bullied by Juraj Kucka in the middle of the park. Could not provide any platform for the side moving forward. 5

10 Raphinha

Provided the only moment of quality in the first half with his goal, but should be putting opposition like this to the sword and he failed to do that consistently at any point. 7

19 Rodrigo

Took his goal well and anticipated the opportunity nicely, but failed to pull Leeds attacks together throughout the game. 6

22 Jack Harrison

Slammed home his goal well, though he was given far too much time and space to pick his spot late in the match. However, again guilty of overplaying his hand. Seems to take one touch too many and get run off it or fails to find the final ball the team needs to unlock an opportunity. 5

20 Daniel James

Much like Harrison, he overplayed and took too many touches before inviting pressure and losing possession. Pace didn't stand out. 5

Substitutes

13 Kristoffer Klaesson

21 Pascal Struijk

23 Kalvin Phillips (on for Klich 59min)

Solid, but clearly rusty. 6

30 Joe Gelhardt

33 Leo Hjelde

35 Charlie Cresswell

38 Crysencio Summerville (on for Raphinha 82min)

A late switch and not too much to get hold of. N/A

42 Sam Greenwood (on for James 67min)

A very good performance from the youngster, who justified his head coach's faith. Created the opening for the second goal and then directly assisted the third. 7
