Leeds United owner offers insight into Kalvin Phillips transfer to Man City

Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzanni has shared an insight into Kalvin Phillips' move to the Premier League champions Manchester City.

The Blues completed the purchase of the England international in July with Phillips at the time expressing his delight at making the switch to the Etihad. He said upon his official announcement: "I am absolutely delighted to have joined Manchester City.

"City have again proved to be the best team in the country with an amazing squad and a manager in Pep Guardiola who is rightly considered to be the finest in the world. To be able to play under Pep and learn from him and his coaching staff as well as be part of such a fantastic squad is a prospect that I am incredibly excited about.

" City are a world-class club with world-class staff and facilities and it’s a dream come true to have joined the club. Now I can’t wait to get started and to look to try and help the team to go on and achieve more success."

Speculation in the early stages of the transfer window was that Phillips could leave to join Leeds and City's arch rivals Manchester United. However in an interview with The Athletic, Radrizzanni shed light on how the 26-year-old made his intent known that he wanted to leave Elland Road.

"I didn’t want to let him go," Radrizzanni explained. " He decided to go and was very clear to me that it was his ambition to play at that level."
