Leeds United news with Gnonto transfer claim, Sinisterra frustration and Kamada exit confirmed

Here are your latest Leeds United headlines for Thursday, April 13.

Gnonto transfer claim

Leeds United are set to bank a profit in the region of £36 million if a summer sale for Wilfried Gnonto is sanctioned. That is according to Football Insider, who claim the teenager could be set to depart Elland Road after just one season if the Whites suffer relegation.

The report outlines top Premier League and Serie A clubs have already expressed an interest in the Italy international. Leeds 'accept' holding on to Gnonto will be a challenge, but are said to be demanding more than £40m to consider a summer transfer.

The 19-year-old agreed a five-year deal last summer after completing a £4m move from FC Zurich. The length of the contract means United are not under imminent pressure to sell, despite the club's precarious Premier League status.

Sinisterra frustration

Expectations of expensive footballers are always high, whether it’s the head coach or the supporters, but the long-term impact of injuries cannot be ignored. Luis Sinisterra was scintillating in Leeds United’s win over Nottingham Forest last week, but Javi Gracia has stressed the need for patience after two long absences this season.

The manner of the 23-year-old’s start to 2022/23 made comparisons with Raphinha irresistible. Leeds had seemingly traded one South American winger for another.

Between late August and late September, there were six goals in six games for club and country before that red card against Aston Villa brought him crashing back to Earth. Injury would strike before the end of October.

Sinisterra was missing from United’s line-up for 11 matches and three months, which included the World Cup pause on proceedings. There would be just three starts at Accrington Stanley, Forest and Manchester United before he returned to the medical room.

There would be another seven games outside the starting line-up before that recall at Arsenal by Gracia. The goal and performance against Forest was the first reminder in a long time of those autumn highs.

Asked, before Sunday’s Crystal Palace loss, if there was a lot more to come from the Colombian, Gracia said: “I expect, always, more than my players and in this case as well."

Kamada exit confirmed

Leeds United target Daichi Kamada will leave Eintracht Frankfurt at the end of the season after deciding not to renew his contract.

Kamada was linked with Leeds and Tottenham Hotspur last summer, and reports last year suggested the Whites were 'tempted' to revisit their interest in January.

A move failed to materialise during the winter transfer window, but Kamada will now be available on a free transfer when his contract expires on June 30.
