Leeds United news: Claim that Whites 'contacted' about Aaron Ramsey and Hammers fans dismiss Raphinha rumour

Here are the latest Leeds United evening headlines on Saturday, 29 January 2022.

Leeds United 'contacted' about Aaron Ramsey

According to the website 90 Min, this week Juventus have again being trying to ship midfielder Aaron Ramsey to a host of Premier League clubs including Leeds United.

The 31-year-old, who joined from Arsenal, has only made five appearances for Juventus this season, and most of those were as substitute.

According to 90 Min: "Burnley, Leeds, Crystal Palace and Newcastle have all been contacted and none have ruled out a move for Ramsey just yet."

Clubs may be reluctant to bite due to his high wages, and the article said that he was also a reluctant transfer subject, which makes it a less than alluring offer.

There is no indication from Leeds that the club is tempted, but the club has been repeatedly linked with Ramsey over the past month, and clearly someone involved is eager to spark some interest in the Welshman.

Rangers solve transfer puzzle as Leeds United chase Ibrox star

Leeds United look set to add a second January signing to the under-23 squad, having brought in Mateo Joseph Fernandez at the beginning of the month.

The second player they are trying to recruit is 20-year-old Rangers left-back James Maxwell, and with Rangers reportedly closing in on free agent Johnly Yfeko, also a left-back, it may signal the end of Maxwell’s time in Glasgow.

The Daily Record first broke the news of Leeds’ interest after the player himself admitted that he was ready for a new challenge in a refreshingly honest interview.

It would provide another option to cover for Junior Firpo if his injury problems were to continue, leaving Stuart Dallas in his favoured midfield role.

West Ham fans unconvinced by Raphinha bid rumour

Supporters on both sides of the deal are sceptical as to whether West Ham are sincerely trying to buy Raphinha from Leeds United.

Leeds have been discussing a new contract with Raphinha and his representatives leaving some fans wondering whether it is just his agent trying to secure a better deal.

David Moyes’ West Ham side have impressed in the last couple of seasons but they are still some way off being the kind of European challengers many imagine Raphinha may end up leaving for.

Hammers fans were under no illusions and, while they were appreciative of Raphinha’s quality, most of them were not allowing themselves to be drawn in by the rumours.
