Danny Mills outlines Leeds points target
Former Whites defender Danny Mills claims Leeds need four points to guarantee safety from the drop. Jesse Marsch's side are currently nine points adrift of the bottom three but have a tough run of games on the horizon.
Speaking to Football Insider, Mills said: “It gives Jesse Marsch a little bit more time on the training ground and that can only be beneficial. The results so far have been brilliant under him, they’ve been very, very good.
“They are still in a precarious position. If the teams below them win their games in hand, as unlikely as that is, then it would make it even more precarious. They’ve just got to keep focusing on themselves.
"They are probably one win and one draw away from safety. As soon as they get that they can relax a little bit and enjoy themselves.
“It’s the same for Everton, they were due to play teams in the FA Cup semi-finals so they’ve had to delay that.”
Who is Florian Grillitsch? Bundesliga star profiled amid Leeds United free transfer links
The Bundesliga has long been a very strong source of talent that Premier League clubs have looked to exploit. According to recent reports, Florian Grillitsch could be the next player to make the move between the two leagues with Leeds United the latest team to be linked with his signature.
Although, as always, it won’t be an easy deal for the Whites to complete as he is understood to be on the radar of several other clubs around Europe. The Austria international will be out of contract in the summer if he opts against extending his deal at Hoffenheim which has piqued the interest of plenty of European scouts.
The Daily Mail report that suggested Leeds were pursuing Grillitsch did claim that his potential arrival would come as part of a contingency plan to replace Kalvin Phillips. However, with the lack of senior midfield options available to Jesse Marsch at the moment, that wouldn’t necessarily be the case as he could come in as a partner for Phillips.
Inside life as Jack Harrison's chef, a Meslier trial, feeding Anthony Joshua and West Ham hat-trick
Illan Meslier has not let much slip through his fingers at Leeds United, but his loss has proven to be Jack Harrison’s gain with the one that got away this season. The goalkeeper spent part of last summer searching for a private chef.
In an effort to find that extra one per cent chefs are becoming more and more common in elite sports. At the summit of professional football, where incomes can be far more disposable, athletes are looking for ways to keep their focus on the job at hand, not how they stay below their allowed calories at dinner.
Meslier placed an advert and held trials at his Harrogate home. Kyle Bussey, a 35-year-old chef in the region, was among those who turned up.
