Leeds United news as Whites reportedly managed to bag starlet Wilfried Gnonto at cut rate price

Here are your Leeds United morning headlines on Saturday, 3 September.

Leeds United reportedly secure Italian starlet Wilfried Gnonto at cut rate price

Leeds United managed to reportedly pull off the signing of Italian international Wilfried Gnonto for nearly half the price FC Zurich quoted them.

Football Insider reports the Swiss side placed a £7m price tag on the teenager who has already won four caps for Italy under Roberto Mancini.

However, Leeds stood firm and managed to secure the signing of Gnonto on deadline day in a deal that cost them £4m.

While there is likely to be a sell-on clause included in the deal for Gnonto, Leeds' ability to pull off such a deal for such a precocious talent is hugely exciting.

It might be sometime before Jesse Marsch feels comfortable giving the teenager regular first team minutes. But given the 18-year-old has made four international appearances, two of which were against Germany, there's no reason to doubt he won't be ready when the time comes.

Leeds United will quickly feel the full impact of their deadline-day transfer decisions

Leeds United travel to West London to take on Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium later today.

The Whites come into the game on the back of a midweek draw to Everton, which saw Leeds new boys Luis Sinisterra open his account for the club.

Jesse Marsch's men will be hoping for a repeat performance of their final day of the season win over Brentford from last season, which kept them in the Premier League when they face off against Thomas Frank's side.

There are plenty of storylines to look out for, including another reunion with former Whites defender Pontus Jansson. But what else should Leeds fans be on the look out for?

Here's five things to look out for when the Whites take on the Bees later today

Wilfried Gnonto's first words after becoming Leeds United player

Leeds United's new kid on the block Wilfried Gnonto can't wait to get started at Elland Road after making the deadline day switch. The Italian international, who came through the youth set-up at Inter Milan, signed a five-year deal with the Whites for an undisclosed fee from FC Zurich.

The Leeds hierarchy are understood to have accelerated their plans to bring in the 18-year-old, with the original plan to sign the striker next January. The deadline day move for Bamba Dieng came as a late blow to the Whites and Gnonto was a late addition.

Speaking to Leeds United, he said: "It was a little bit strange but I'm very happy to be here. I think this is a great club and I can't wait to see all the fans and be at Elland Road - hopefully soon.
