Leeds United news as Whites previous talks with Qatar 'worries' PSG amid historic rival takeover

Here are your Leeds United evening headlines on Thursday, March 9.

The reason Leeds United's past takeover talks with Qatar is worrying PSG

With Manchester United's owners ready to listen to offers for the club, a whole host of prospective buyers are at the ready to try and get their hands on the Red Devils - none more so than the emirate of Qatar.

The state already owns the most successful club in France, Paris Saint-Germain, but whispers across the French capital are starting to spread and many are worried for the future of the club.

Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, the Emir of Qatar, is a big fan of Man United and it's believed that the takeover prospect is coming straight from him, which is leaving those in Paris sweating.

Many at PSG see it as a move that holds the potential for a future 'withdrawal' from the Ligue 1 champions to focus on the bigger, more successful brand of Old Trafford and take advantage of the better 'image' of the Premier League according to Le Parisien.

And the Qatar state could already have a hand over the rest of their competition, having tried to break into the English market much earlier in the form of Leeds United only a mere few years ago, back when the club was still in the Championship.

While that venture was unsuccessful, it did provide them with the knowledge and preparation necessary to get their foot in the door when a bigger deal like this eventually came around.

The English top-flight has seen other Arab investment in recent years, with the Saudi PIF consortium taking over from Mike Ashley at Newcastle United - another club that the report claims Qatar looked at investing in.

All of this means that Leeds might've indirectly helped one of their biggest historical rivals in securing an enormous amount of new investment just as the Glazer family are looking to sell shop.

Tyler Roberts returns to Leeds United as injury casts doubt on QPR loan spell

Queens Park Rangers boss Gareth Ainsworth has confirmed that Tyler Roberts has returned to Leeds United for treatment after suffering another injury setback.

Roberts temporarily swapped Leeds for QPR back in the summer, and missed the World Cup in Qatar with Wales due to a calf injury.

He returned for six games after the World Cup break, and even scored twice in a 2-2 draw at Reading in January. However, the Wales international picked up another injury in February, and shared on Instagram earlier this week that the issue is worse than first expected.

Leeds United boss Javi Gracia's positive Luis Sinisterra and Rodrigo update ahead of Brighton

Leeds United boss Javi Gracia has revealed Luis Sinisterra and Rodrigo will be evaluated in training to determine whether they will be available for selection against Brighton on Saturday.

Sinisterra has missed the last five games with a muscle injury after being replaced inside eight minutes in the 2-2 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford last month. The Colombian international has started just twice for Leeds since October after suffering a separate foot injury prior to the World Cup.
