Leeds United news as Whites fired 'competition' warning by Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi

Here are your Leeds United morning headlines on Tuesday , March 7.

Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi warns Leeds United

Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi has warned Leeds United to expect changes in their Premier League clash this Saturday after he dropped goalkeeper Robert Sanchez for the first time this season during their 4-0 win over West Ham United.

The Seagulls sit in eighth place heading into the match this weekend, but could move up to fourth should they win their games in hand on Fulham, Newcastle United, Liverpool and Tottenham above them. The Whites would have been pleased to see De Zerbi's side beat the Hammers last time out, but will now be concerned that the south coast club have them in their sights.

During their win over the London side, De Zerbi raised some eyebrows when he dropped regular shot-stopper Sanchez for Jason Steele after a run of poor form between the sticks. The Italian has been ruthless in his team selection this season and has even gone as far to sell star player Leandro Trossard to Arsenal in January after being disappointed with his attitude in training.

And now the Brighton coach has warned Leeds to expect the unexpected in his team selection on Saturday, as Javi Gracia looks to try to prepare his side as best he can for the game.

"I love the competition in my dressing room and amongst the players," De Zerbi said after dropping Sanchez for the 4-0 win over West Ham. "It is the right competition because that can help you to improve. I haven't a fixed plan in my head."

Leeds United Supporters Club issue statement on 'bitter pill' season ticket price hike

The Leeds United Supporters Club (LUSC) has claimed that plans to raise season ticket prices by 10 per cent for next season is "another bitter pill for the fans to swallow".

Leeds have announced their decision to implement a 10 per cent price increase in the cost of a season ticket for the 2023/24 season should the Whites avoid relegation from the Premier League this term.

A club statement said: “We appreciate any increase in the current economic climate is unwelcome, particularly when it coincides with poor performance on the pitch.

Inside Javi Gracia's early Leeds United squad meetings and the culture he is trying to set

Six points separate the nine worst teams in the Premier League, which may provide some crumb of comfort for those desperate to escape, but not Javi Gracia. Leeds United’s new head coach is very much in the wait-until-the-38th-game-is-played-before-looking camp.

The Spaniard has said as much to the players too. For the first time, Gracia has pulled the curtain back on what was said to the squad in those early meetings before the Southampton match.

Speaking to the media last week, Gracia and his coaching staff had made it clear to the players they were only looking forward from here on out. There was nothing to be gained in looking back at how dire their situation had become.
