Here are the latest Leeds United evening headlines for Monday, August 15.
Leeds loanee praised for 'game-changing' impact
Jamie Mackie has praised Leeds loanee Tyler Roberts for his game-changing impact in QPR's 2-2 draw at Sunderland. Roberts made his first league appearance for QPR after missing their opening two fixtures through injury.
The Wales international scored on his debut against Charlton Athletic in the Carabao Cup last week, but he was left on the bench for the London club's game at Sunderland. However, with QPR 2-0 down, head coach Mick Beale brought on Roberts as a half-time substitute.
QPR came back to draw the game 2-2, with goalkeeper Seny Dieng scoring the equaliser. However, former Premier League striker Mackie believes Roberts changed the game, as the 23-year-old won the free-kick which saw Ilias Chair make it 2-1.
"Tyler Roberts - I thought he changed the game for QPR," Mackie said on ITV's EFL highlights show.
"Sunderland were very, very dominant in the first half. They were very good, came out very strong, but it was Tyler Roberts that changed the game."
Tuchel set to be on Elland Road touchline despite investigation
Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is almost certainly set to be in the dugout for his side’s trip to Leeds United on Sunday. That is according to BBC Sport, who report that his red card at the full-time whistle against Tottenham Hotspur yesterday does not trigger an automatic touchline ban.
Tuchel was dismissed by referee Anthony Taylor following a second altercation with Spurs boss Antonio Conte, who had just seen his side net a stoppage-time equaliser to deny Chelsea a deserved all three points. The German was angered at the performance of Taylor throughout the 90 minutes, claiming that neither of Spurs’ goals should have stood.
Both Tuchel and Conte are now under an FA investigation following the antics of Sunday’s encounter, reviewing video footage of the incident and analysing Taylor’s post-match report. That will not be concluded this week, though, meaning Tuchel will be free to line-up on the touchline at Elland Road.
Adams hails 'incredible' Whites supporters
Tyler Adams has praised Leeds United supporters after the disappointing 2-2 draw against Southampton. The American experienced his first taste of the Whites’ famous away following since arriving from RB Leipzig.
A sold-out away end at St Mary’s held contained Leeds fans, the majority of whom made a 480-mile round trip amid serious travel disruption to watch Jesse Marsch’s men. Their loyalty was almost rewarded with the perfect afternoon as a Rodrigo double-fired the Whites into a two-goal lead.
However, disaster struck in the final 20 minutes as goals from Joe Aribo and Kyle Walker-Peters pegged the Saints back. Adams admitted Leeds did enough to win the game while hailing the travelling contingent for their support.
