Here are the latest Leeds United evening headlines for Tuesday, August 2.
Swansea dealt Drameh blow
Swansea City wanted to sign Leeds defender Cody Drameh on loan this summer, according to Wales Online. The report states that the Championship club were interested in signing Drameh on loan, but Leeds were only willing to sell the 20-year-old, and the Swans were not prepared to meet the valuation set by the Whites.
Leeds Live reported last week that Drameh is set to stay at Elland Road this season and fight for a place in the first-team. He spent the second half of last season on loan at Cardiff City, making 22 appearances for Swansea's arch rivals.
The Swans' former youth coach Cameron Toshack is currently an assistant to Leeds boss Jesse Marsch and is only too aware of Swansea's style of play, although the touted finances ensured a potential deal swiftly came to a firm halt.

Gelhardt makes Leeds vow after signing new deal
Leeds United striker Joe Gelhardt has vowed to ‘continue working hard’ after putting pen-to-paper on a new five-year-deal with the club. Gelhardt’s new contract will take him until the summer of 2027 at Elland Road and his extension is a huge show of confidence in the 20-year-old.
After making his breakthrough into the first team last season, Gelhardt will be looking for even more senior minutes in the new campaign. He scored two goals, provided two assists and won two penalties in just 732 minutes of action, contributing to some huge moments across the season.
“I’m over the moon obviously to sign another five years with this club," Gelhardt told LUTV. "Ever since I’ve came here I’ve loved every minute of it so to extend my contract for another five years here I’m absolutely made up."
Former Marsch favourite reveals reason for snubbing Leeds
Former Manchester United assistant manager Chris Armas has opened up on why he did not end up joining the coaching staff of Jesse Marsch at Leeds United. Armas was heavily linked with taking the role as assistant at the Whites but opted against taking the job and instead returned to his native America.
The know each other well from their time together at Red Bull Salzburg, where Armas was also the assistant to Marsch. Following his decision not to move to Elland Road, Leeds moved quickly to secure Armas’ alternative last week as they brought in the highly rated former Borussia Dortmund assistant Rene Maric to link-up with Marsch and the rest of his staff.
Speaking on the Crack Podcast, Armas revealed that it was actually Leeds-linked former Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata who was pushing Victor Orta into pursuing him. He revealed, however, that the right decision for him and his family was to return to the USA to try and become a manager again.
