Steven Gerrard linked with Leicester City and Leeds United jobs
Former Aston Villa and Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has emerged as the new name on Leicester City's managerial shortlist, amid links with the Leeds United role.
That is according to the Sun journalist Alan Nixon, who claims on his Patreon page that the Foxes job may have the most appeal.
Gerrard won the Scottish Premiership title with Rangers and guided his side to the quarter-finals of the Europa League before a disappointing stint in charge of Aston Villa.

Brenden Aaronson speaks out on Leeds United transfer after disappointing debut campaign
Performances may not have been good enough, but Brenden Aaronson has thanked Leeds United for giving him a taste of the club, players and supporters at Elland Road. Nobody made more Premier League appearances for the Whites than Aaronson last season, though he only managed a return of one goal and three assists from that pitch time.
Aaronson was the first arrival of last summer. The 22-year-old signed a five-year contract after Leeds paid nearly £25m to Red Bull Salzburg for his services in the days after survival at Brentford was confirmed.
“The season wasn’t good enough,” he said on Instagram. “We all strived for more and wish we did better. Despite these disappointments, I’m extremely grateful Leeds brought me to be part of such a great club with great team-mates and an amazing fan base.
“I want to thank everyone involved with this year, including all the fans who came out to every game, start to finish, and supported us all the way. We appreciate it more than you know.”

Luke Ayling breaks Leeds United silence on relegation and his future with right-back battle ahead
Leeds United and its supporters were let down by the players, according to Luke Ayling, who has vowed to return the Whites to the top flight. The vice-captain has set his mind to celebrating Championship promotion with the fans after Covid kept them apart in 2020.
With Liam Cooper injured for much of the run-in, Ayling was at the forefront of the club’s efforts to stave off relegation down the home straight as captain. The 31-year-old contributed important goals against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Newcastle United, but ultimately watched on as the side was relegated last weekend.
Ayling was one of the stars of the 2019/20 Championship title win and felt the pain of being unable to properly celebrate promotion with the supporters because of Covid restrictions. The incentive of putting that right is driving Ayling through this close season.
“We let this club down,” he said on Instagram. “To the fans, I am sorry we couldn’t keep you in the Premier League. All my attention now is to make sure we bounce back straight away.
“When we got promoted last time we did it without being able to celebrate with our great fans and now that’s what I look forward to and dream of doing.”
