Here are the latest Leeds United evening headlines on Sunday, 3 April 2022.
Ward-Prowse on atmosphere
Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse has admitted his side had to ‘dig deep’ in the second half in order to secure a point at Leeds United. Ward-Prowse’s free-kick just after the break was enough to earn a share of the spoils for the Saints, who went behind on the half hour mark.
Southampton went into the game at Elland Road on the back of a four-game losing run and so had to show their character to arrest their poor run of form. Speaking after the game, Ward-Prowse believes the Saints did exactly that in what was a tough atmosphere for the away side.
Via quotes from BBC Sport, he said: “We knew of the resurgence of Leeds under their new manager and the momentum that they had. We knew it would be a tough test. I think we dug deep in the second half. The crowd and atmosphere here is incredible. They get right behind their team and make it difficult. We got a deserved point, I feel.”

Harrison ‘grateful for point’
Jack Harrison says Leeds United must be "grateful for any points" in their battle stay in the Premier League. The Whites were good value for their first-half lead against Southampton but James Ward-Prowse's second-half set piece ensured a share of the spoils.
Leeds created a hatful of chances in the second half and will feel aggrieved to have not taken all three points. Nonetheless, the result sees Jesse Marsch's side extend their unbeaten run, having taken seven points from a possible nine.
"At this point we have to be grateful for any points," said Harrison to LUTV. "I think we were definitely hoping for three and I think maybe we deserved three.
"We created some chances in the second half, and the first half as well and I felt like at times we were quite dominant. But they are a tough side to play against, they have got a lot of talent as well and they worked us really hard. It was a tough match and I think a point is probably fair."

Howson discusses Leeds captains
Former Leeds United midfielder Jonny Howson has praised three Leeds United captains during his time at Elland Road. After coming through the ranks at the Whites, he made his first-team debut in the League Cup against Barnet in September 2006.
Howson would go on to make a further 11 appearances for Leeds during his maiden season a senior professional, before cementing his place as a regular in the side. Although Howson left the Whites in 2012 to join Norwich City, he still speaks fondly about his time at his boyhood club. It was a major learning curve for the now Middlesbrough midfielder and he has outlined the three captains who helped him the most at the start of his career.
He told Teesside Live : "When I was coming through (at Leeds), Shaun Derry, Jonathan Douglas and Richard Naylor all stand out. But it's not just when you're younger. Even now, I know I'm the captain but the likes of Sol Bamba, you talk to them and pick up different things. You watch them day in, day out. Even though I am this age, you're always learning. You can always pick up bits and I think I'll always be like that right to the end."
