Leeds United news as Revie-era legend makes Marcelo Bielsa comparison after Liverpool win

Here are your latest Leeds United morning headlines for Tuesday, November 1.

Giles' Bielsa comparison

Leeds legend Johnny Giles has likened the performance in Saturday's 2-1 victory over Liverpool to the style previously played under former manager Marcelo Bielsa.

Crysencio Summerville's dramatic 89th-minute winner ended Liverpool's 29-match unbeaten run at Anfield in the Premier League and helped Leeds climb out of the relegation zone.

They ran 11km more than their opponents throughout the 90 minutes, and Giles believes the indefatigable nature of their performance at Anfield was reminiscent of the Bielsa era.

"I thought Leeds were the better team over the 90 minutes," Giles revealed on The Stand with Eamon Dunphy. "There was such a change from the previous weeks as far as Leeds were concerned.

"They were like a Bielsa team, they deserve to win the match, they attacked when they had to and they scored in the last minute."

Leeds United have a fly in the ointment Europe's best have to be watching

Tyler Adams had just completed 90 of the hardest minutes he’s had for Leeds United, but you would not have believed it based on his final-whistle exertions. Adams just kept going and going and going as he sprinted to celebrate with Jesse Marsch, before racing to the away end for screaming and fist pumps.

It all played into the indefatigable streak Adams has shown since arriving in the summer. The USA international was sorely missed in the loss to Fulham and all too gladly welcomed back on a special night at Anfield.

Illan Meslier did his best to outshine the midfielder, but Adams’s consistency has been key. While others may see their form rise and fall through a season which has limped along so far, Adams has repeatedly been one of, if not the best player in white.

Predicted Leeds United U21s line-up vs Crewe as Gelhardt to play but key man missing

Leeds United U21s will be targeting Papa John’s Trophy progression this evening when they travel to Gresty Road to take on Crewe Alexandra. Michael Skubala’s side have lost just once this season and they’ll be keen to showcase their talents by seeing off another League Two team.

The Whites have already beaten Tranmere Rovers, winning 5-3 at Prenton Park last month, before losing comfortably against a strong Bolton Wanderers side a fortnight ago. A win would guarantee Leeds a spot in the knockout stages this evening, but a score draw could also be enough if Leeds were to win the resulting penalty shootout and pick up two points.

Skubala will look to name a strong side this evening and one or two experienced names might be involved, too. Kristoffer Klaesson looks set to make his fifth appearance for the U21s this evening as he looks to keep himself sharp.
