Leeds United news as Rafa Benitez on 'standby' for Whites rivals' job amid Elland Road links

Here are your Leeds United morning headlines on Tuesday, February 21.

Rafa Benitez on 'standby' for Premier League rivals job amid Leeds United links

Former Everton manager Rafa Benitez is reportedly on 'standby' for the job at West Ham to become available in order to get back onto the Premier League stage despite already being linked with the vacancy at Leeds United.

The Spaniard, who also had successful tenures at Liverpool, Newcastle United and Chelsea in England's top flight, is currently the bookies' second favourite for the Whites job and is believed to have been 'considered' as an option by the board at Elland Road.

The Whites have had to wait over two weeks now for a permanent name in the dugout, which in the meantime has been headed by interim boss Michael Skubala.

But now according to the Daily Mail, Benitez is ready to step in at the London Stadium if the Irons lose to Nottingham Forest this weekend and David Moyes is shown the door.

They also note that the project at Elland Road is not something that currently interests Benitez, despite his experience in such projects most recently seen with the Toffees and with Newcastle previously.

Gary Neville slams Andrea Radrizzani for Twitter promise amid Leeds United manager chase 'arrogance'

Sky Sports pundit and former Manchester United star Gary Neville has claimed that Leeds United's board have acted 'arrogantly' in the pursuit of a new permanent manager at Elland Road.

It's been two weeks since Andrea Radrizzani and company gave Jesse Marsch his marching orders but they've been unable to secure a permanent name in their dugout since, despite having been linked with over a dozen names.

But despite promising fans there would be a new appointment just two days after the American's departure, the Whites are still being headed by interim boss Michael Skubala.

Sean Dyche error laid bare as Everton hand Leeds United their Premier League survival blueprint

Watching Sean Dyche applaud the Goodison Park crowd after a 1-0 victory - for the second time in as many home games - almost served as a tease to Leeds United chiefs. Pre-match talk centred around the game being a monumental six-pointer.

Afterwards, there was only one discussion point from a Leeds perspective: get a manager in - and fast.

The Whites are entering their third week without a permanent boss. It is now clear there was no plan from Andrea Radrizzani and Co once Jesse Marsch was sacked. With each passing game, another nail is hammered into Leeds’ relegation coffin.
