Here are the latest Leeds United morning headlines on Friday, 27 May.
Wright calls on Marsch backing
Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright has called on Leeds United’s owners to continue backing Jesse Marsch in the transfer window. The Whites made their first signing of the summer yesterday as Brenden Aaronson completed his long-awaited switch from RB Salzburg.
Leeds stayed in the Premier League by the skin of their teeth on the final day of the season and will be eager to avoid another season of struggles. Speaking on the Premier League season review on PLP, Wright claimed that Leeds must avoid the same mistakes made in January this summer.
He said: “I think the owners must be breathing a massive sigh of relief. You look at what Bielsa did to that team. Taking them from the Championship and turning them into a real force.

“He needed backing. They didn’t give him the backing. In the end, I think his team ran out of steam because they needed the team to freshen it up. There was a lot of hard work with the way they were playing. And they didn’t back him.
“Now they have brought in Jesse Marsch, you are hoping they are going to back him because they should have made signings in January. They don’t know if Raphinha is going to be there.
“There is talk about Kalvin Phillips, so they are going to need to strengthen and they will need the kind of players that will give Marsch to do something in this league.”
Aaronson on final day
Brendan Aaronson has revealed an incredible story of how he watched Leeds United's Premier League survival match in a cafe in Vienna and was 'literally sweating' in the hopes of their survival. Should Leeds have been relegated, a move would have been incredibly unlikely.
However, once Jack Harrison scored that 94th-minute winner, he knew he'd be heading to the Premier League. Aaronson confirmed that the move would have been in some doubt if Leeds were relegated, and revealed his experience of quite literally sweating the game out, as he watched it in its entirety in a cafe in Austria.
He told LeedsLive: "It was tough, you know. Me and my girlfriend were in Vienna for a few days, and I was sitting in a cafe and I swear I was literally dripping with sweat! I was pacing during the game - it was not a good time! But in the end, they won so it was good.
"After the game we were in a state of shock - we realised that we were moving to England right away so that was a crazy feeling."

Marsch on Aaronson
Jesse Marsch believes Brenden Aaronson will fit in perfectly at Elland Road after Leeds United unveiled the signing of the 21-year-old from Red Bull Salzburg. Signing a five-year-deal, the American international has previously worked with Marsch at Salzburg, where the former coached from June 2019 to June 2021.
Leeds targeted Aaronson in January to help strengthen their squad, but were unable to agree upon a deal. He is Leeds' first post-Marcelo Bielsa signing, and can operate on both wings or in behind a striker in a number 10 role. And Marsch has no worries about Aaronson ability, as Leeds look to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2022/23 Premier League campaign.
“Brenden is an incredibly hard worker and we’re pleased to welcome him to the club," Marsch told Leeds United's official club website.
“He adapts very well to tactical ideas and levels of play and his mentality is to do whatever it takes to help the team succeed. I know he will fit in here perfectly with our players and club with this mindset.”
