Leeds United's plans for Azzedine Ounahi swoop put 'on hold' after Jesse Marsch uncertainty
Leeds United are reportedly holding out on taking the £25m plunge on Moroccan international and Angers SCO midfielder Azzedine Ounahi following uncertainty around manager Jesse Marsch.
According to the Daily Mail, 'time is running out' for the American, with the Whites winless in their last five league matches and without a win all competitions since the return from the winter break.
The sudden halt comes after securing deals for Red Bull Salzburg centre-back Max Wober and Hoffenheim striker Georginio Rutter already in this window.
It's believed that the Whites are 'taking stock' of their squad after questions have been raised by both fans and pundits about whether Marsch can get the best from the players he has.
With clubs like Napoli and Leicester also having interest, holding off securing a deal for the 22-year-old could spell big trouble if another team is able to advance their own negotiations past the stage of what Leeds have already achieved.
Adam Underwood reveals how Andrea Radrizzani has 'trebled resources' of Leeds United's academy
Adam Underwood has revealed that Leeds United chairman Andrea Radrizzani has 'trebled the resources' of the club's academy over the last five years.
In recent years, the Whites have operated on the principle of buying high-quality young players at a cheaper rate, and developing and nurturing their talent at Thorp Arch.
Cody Drameh, Sam Greenwood and Crysencio Summerville are testament of that philosophy, and Leeds will be hopeful that the likes of Leo Hjelde, Lewis Bate, Darko Gyabi, Mateo Joseph and Sonny Perkins can follow suit.
Leeds United's Michael Skubala on U21s' loan plan, Max Dean and Archie Gray fitness
Michael Skubala was keeping his cards close to his chest when asked if anymore of his Leeds United U21s players could leave on loan this month. The Whites have already allowed players to leave in the January transfer window, but it remains to be seen whether more players will be sent elsewhere in pursuit of minutes.
Alfie McCalmont joined Carlisle United last week until the end of the campaign and Leo Hjelde followed him out to the door to Championship side Rotherham United. However, more players have been linked away from Elland Road, with Max Dean being the latest.
A move to MK Dons to link up with former Leeds U21s boss Mark Jackson has been touted for the striker, but Skubala refused to give anything away regarding the immediate future of Dean or any other members of his squad.
