Leeds United supporters give verdict as Jesse Marsch 'set' to become Southampton manager

"It's a tricky one and it's a difficult one for us to speak about other teams and if they're going to get relegated, this and that. For one, whatever we say becomes an article in a newspaper and two you're talking about a fellow club that you're competing against so it can be deemed as disrespectful sometimes. I'd never want that to happen.

"Everything we say will be listened to and used as motivation. At the end of the day, it's football and we're here for it. You never want to come across as disrespectful but we're just here to give our opinions on different subjects and the Leeds one, going down is a touchy one.

"We've still got a part to play in their season where we've got to play against them at Elland Road which isn't an easy place to play so there's plenty of games left and it's too early to say.”

Slot had been the odds-on favourite to helm the Whites but has since said he'll be staying with the Eredivisie outfit who currently lead the Dutch top-flight in a bid for their first title since 2017.

De Boer himself lasted just four matches in the Premier League with Crystal Palace before being sacked and has since said that his fellow Dutchman has made the 'logical' decision to stick to his current position and not to jump ship to Elland Road where Leeds are struggling in the Premier League.

The Portuguese coach is renowned for his strict stance on fitness and Ream has shared a story which he has heard on how Bielsa used to keep his Leeds players in the best possible shape.

“I don’t have the full story, but I do know that they would be weighed out in the afternoon to leave training and they had to come back in the next morning and weigh similar or below what they did the afternoon before,” Ream told Indirect Podcast.
