Here are the latest Leeds United morning headlines on Sunday, 14 August 2022.
Marsch on Bamford/Gelhardt
Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch has claimed injuries to Patrick Bamford and Joe Gelhardt are not serious. Bamford limped off in the first half of the 2-2 draw at Southampton, while Gelhardt missed out completely due to a dead leg.
Leeds were left with a familiar story at St. Mary’s as they were forced to use Daniel James as a central striker, intensifying claims for the Whites to utilise the transfer market. Speaking after the game, though, Marsch insisted that it will not be long until both are back to full fitness.
He said: “First of all, Patrick, I think is not bad. He had felt a little tightness in his abductor and so I've challenged him to be honest with us on exactly where he stands with things and he felt like he wasn't 100%.

“He didn't want to stress it and he made the right decision I think to come off, even though if it's a cup final or something I think he keeps playing.
“Joffy was a little bit injured this week and with a lot of games coming up, we just wanted to make sure that we manage him the right way.”
Talking points

The Whites were two goals to the good and cruising. The natives were restless, the away end was predicting Ralph Hasenhuttl’s demise and the players looked bereft of any ideas.
Jesse Marsch was celebrating corners like they were goals, his under-fire record signing had knocked in a brace and they were cantering to a 100 per cent start to the campaign. Until they weren’t.

Hasenhuttl
Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl says his team provided the 'answer' to a difficult week after coming from two goals behind to draw 2-2 against Leeds United at St Mary's.
Rodrigo's second half brace put Leeds two goals ahead, until Hasenhuttl's match defining substitutions preceded goals from Southampton's Joe Aribo and Kyle Walker-Peters in the final 20 minutes.
Many declared Southampton as dead and buried after the hour-mark and Hasenhuttl even eluded to the headlines that his side 'destroyed' via their fightback.
"I'm sorry that we destroyed a few headlines because they were probably written at that moment," Hasenhuttl told Daily Echo after full-time.
