Leeds United news as loanee caps sends message after capping season with promotion success

Here are the latest Leeds United headlines on Sunday, 29 May 2022.

Loanee Edmondson's Port Vale promotion message

On-loan Leeds United striker Ryan Edmondson has called winning promotion to League One with Port Vale one of his favourite career moments. Vale beat Mansfield Town at Wembley on Saturday afternoon 3-0, in what was a convincing win for Edmondson and company.

While the 21-year-old did not come off the bench against Mansfield, it clearly didn't matter to Edmondson who took to Twitter to declare his love for Vale and his teammates.

Edmondson wrote: "Can gladly say this is one of my favourite career moments and I want to thank @OfficialPVFC for making that possible. I love each and every one of you."

Edmondson's time at Elland Road could be coming to an end this summer however, which could mean he ends up extending his time with Vale in League One.

Season player ratings as duo lead the way

Leeds United fans have handed Raphinha the highest rating of any member of the squad this season. The Brazilian received an average rating of 8.1 from supporters - the only player to be rated higher than an eight in the entire side.

In a season of struggle, Raphinha’s performances, particularly in the first half of the season, almost single-handedly kept the Whites out of the bottom three. He netted eight goals before Christmas when everyone around him was struggling to find the net consistently.

In second place for Leeds was young attacker Joe Gelhardt, who received an average rating of 7.5. Despite only starting five matches, he had a superb breakthrough campaign with a string of fine performances from the bench.

Latest transfer rumours amid Noa Lang report

According to Italian website Calciomercato, Leeds United are currently ahead of Serie A champions AC Milan in the race to sign Dutch winger Noa Lang from Club Brugge's.

With two wingers, Raphinha and Jack Harrison, linked with moves away from Elland Road in recent days and weeks, the Whites will need to add some quality out wide this summer.

Lang has been long linked with Leeds, and Calciomercato claim the Whites, along with West Ham, are ahead of AC Milan when it comes to Lang's signature.

It is thought that the 22-year-old would cost in the region of £23m.
