Here are the latest Leeds United headlines on Thursday, 6 October 2022.
Kristensen on Mbappe
Leeds United defender Rasmus Kristensen has described the task of marking Kylian Mbappe as a ‘great experience’. Kristensen was up against the PSG star during Denmark’s 2-0 win over France last month in the Nations League.
The 25-year-old produced arguably his best performance of the season – for either club or country – managing to keep Mbappe quiet for most of the game. Speaking in an interview with BBC Radio Leeds, Kristensen spoke of how much he enjoyed the challenge against one of the world’s best.
He said: “It was fun, he’s obviously a great player. Luckily for me he was floating around so sometimes he would go on the right, he plays a little bit up at the top so it wasn’t like he was isolated on the left all the time. He’s a great player and it was a great experience.”

Greenwood lesson
Leeds United forward Sam Greenwood has said he has learnt a lesson after being sent off against Tranmere Rovers in the Under-21s 5-3 win in the Papa John's Trophy. The 20-year-old was shown a red card after a foul in the middle of the pitch on the 70 minute mark with the score at 5-3 but the Whites managed to hold on to their two-goal cushion and take all three points.
Leeds went 2-0 down after 19 minutes but completed a 12-minute turnaround after goals from Joe Gelhardt and Sonny Perkins before an equaliser for Tranmere on the stroke of halftime. Mateo Joseph regained the lead after 56 minutes with a nice effort before right-back Cody Drameh put the ball past Tranmere goalkeeper Mateusz Hewelt to secure the win.
Posting to Instagram after the match, Greenwood said: "Good performance and win. We keep pushing @leedsunited Also one to learn from for me!"

Cresswell
Millwall boss Gary Rowett has said the reason Leeds United's Charlie Cresswell missed out against Rotherham United last night was not due to injury but simply a "selection decision". Cresswell has been impressive since swapping Elland Road for the Den after his loan move and has become something of a goalscoring centre-back after his three goals and one assist in nine games this season.
The 1-1 draw at the New York Stadium was the first Cresswell hasn't been involved in all season and fans were left wondering why but Rowett has now calmed those worries. Speaking after the match, Rowett simply stated that it was down to selection rather than an injury.
“No, just a selection decision. We played with a back four, I felt we needed to go with a four that have played together quite a lot. That’s what I decided to do.”
