Leeds United news as Juventus 'keen' on Wilfried Gnonto and could use Weston McKennie in deal

A look at the latest Leeds United morning headlines on Tuesday, March 14.

Juventus 'keen' on Wilfried Gnonto and could use Weston McKennie in deal

CMW claims Juventus are keen on taking Wilfried Gnonto back to Italy this summer having impressed in his debut Premier League campaign. The youngster signed at Elland Road last summer from FC Zurich and has been one of the surprise packages so far this season.

The report claims the Old Lady are hoping to include Gnonto in any negotiations regarding a possible West McKennie move to Elland Road, looking to bring down the £31 million asking price for the US international.

Premier League's 40-point survival mark debunked with Javi Gracia's Leeds United target clear

Javi Gracia knew exactly what the objective was when taking over at Leeds United from Jesse Marsch - Premier League survival. The Spaniard has taken four points from his opening three Premier League games in charge of the Whites, but they dropped into the bottom three with a draw against high flying Brighton at the weekend.

Their fate remains very much in their own control as they're set to take on a number of relegation rivals in the coming weeks. A supercomputer has already predicted survival by the finest of margins, but with 40 points generally considered the safe point in the Premier League, LeedsLive has taken a look at some of the stats from previous years to debunk that myth.

The Whites survived on the final day of last season with just 38 points, with Burnley going down on 35 points following defeat to Newcastle United on the final day, but Clarets had a vastly superior goal difference to Leeds which made a win at Brentford vital. Goals from Raphinha and Jack Harrison secured a dramatic final-day survival with a win over the Bees.

Leeds United captain Liam Cooper surprised over length of absence from 'frustrating' injury

Leeds United captain Liam Cooper has revealed that it has been "frustrating" to miss so much of the season through injury as he admitted his surprise over how long he has been out of action for.

The Whites skipper has started just 12 of Leeds' 26 Premier League matches this term as Luke Ayling has taken the armband in his absence. At centre-back, Max Wober has filled the gap left behind by the 31-year-old as the Austrian has taken no time at all to settle into a solid partnership with Robin Koch.

After missing the first six matches of the season through injury, Cooper then featured in the next 12 league games for Leeds. However, he has yet to feature for the Whites since a 90-minute display during a 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest in February - Jesse Marsch's last game as head coach.

Robin Koch breaks silence over new Leeds United contract as he backs Whites to avoid relegation

Robin Koch has revealed that "initial talks are currently under way" over a new deal at Leeds United as he backed the club to avoid relegation from the Premier League this season.

The growing partnership between Koch and January signing Max Wober has been one of the standout causes for optimism at Leeds of late. However, the ongoing speculation over the German's future at Elland Road has recently cast doubt regarding how much longer the pair may well play together.

Koch's contract is currently set to expire at the end of next summer, meaning that the start of the 2023/24 campaign will currently be his final season in West Yorkshire.
