Here are the latest Leeds United morning headlines on Saturday, 29 October 2022.
Marsch future
Darren Bent believes Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch has just two matches to save his job. Leeds face a trip to Liverpool and a home match with Bournemouth in the next seven days, and anything less than three points in one of those could spell the end of his time at the club.
The Whites slid in the Premier League's bottom three last weekend after their defeat to Fulham extended their winless run to eight. Speaking on talkSPORT Drive, Bent claims defeat against Bournemouth will almost certainly see him get the sack.
He said: “If they get beat at Liverpool, which I think they could do, if they get beaten by Bournemouth with that big gap of the World Cup coming up, I think they’ll move on from him. If they don’t get three points from those games, he’ll get the sack. They need to beat Bournemouth.”

Changes may not be being made at the top of Leeds United’s coaching tree, but the board is taking an unprecedented step in the American’s career to turn the club’s fortunes. Jesse Marsch is under immense pressure after an eight-match winless run and while he retains the backing of his bosses, United have acknowledged changes are needed to halt this slide.
Marsch has confirmed the club has added a psychologist to the coaching staff at Thorp Arch for the benefit of the backroom team as well as the players themselves. It’s a role Marsch has never had as a partner before, but he hopes it will unlock insecurities and reinforce confidence.
“I've always tried to incorporate mental coaches, psychologists into the work I do and it's often been with the team or with the players,” he said. “When I talked about getting the red card [at Brentford], I said I wanted to get a little bit more support in that area.

Will Bamford start?
Jesse Marsch will be forced to check on the fitness of a handful of players this weekend as Leeds United face Liverpool at Anfield. The head coach revealed at his press conference on Thursday afternoon that five players have picked up issues in the week and therefore changes could be made.
Rodrigo and Joe Gelhardt are amongst those with issues and their absences would leave Marsch with a rather simple choice to make when it comes to selecting who will lead the line. Patrick Bamford may be out of sorts when it comes to his form in front of goal, but there’s a chance he could lead the line as Leeds look to end their eight-game winless run.
Bamford has started just four games this season and despite one or two promising performances, he hasn’t managed to find the back of the net. As such, after starting last week against Leicester City, he dropped to the bench last time out against Fulham.
