Marsch praises 'commitment' of players in Liverpool win in passionate social media post

Leeds boss Jesse Marsch has praised the 'commitment' of his players in a passionate social media post following Saturday's 2-1 victory over Liverpool at Anfield.

The Whites secured their first victory against Liverpool in over 21 years and ended the hosts' 29-match unbeaten home record in the Premier League. Rodrigo fired Leeds into a surprise lead inside four minutes when he was gifted a tap-in from close-range courtesy of Joe Gomez's misjudged pass back.

Marsch headed to Anfield under serious pressure after Leeds had dropped into the relegation zone following a run of four straight defeats.

Leeds had gone eight league matches without registering a single victory, but Marsch insists that the work ethic of his players has never been in doubt.

Marsch tweeted on Sunday: "A lot was said before yesterday's game but the commitment of the squad has never faltered and yesterday was the reward for weeks of hard work.

"We know we're not perfect and we've got work to do but we love this team and this club and we'll keep pushing."

Leeds climbed out of the relegation zone with their win on Saturday and sit one point above the bottom three with a game in hand over the five teams directly below them. They play host to AFC Bournemouth on Saturday, before rounding off the Premier League schedule ahead of the World Cup with a trip to Tottenham.

Adams hails impact of substitutes as Gnonto makes competitive debut

Tyler Adams has hailed the impact of Leeds United's substitutes as the Whites picked up their first win at Anfield in over two decades. Jesse Marsch's side ended their torrid eight-game winless streak and ended Liverpool's 29-game unbeaten run in the Premier League on home soil.

Leeds jumped out of the relegation zone with an unlikely three points and it was a real team performance. The Whites head coach gave Wilfried Gnonto his debut for Leeds and the Italian played a part in the winner.

For Adams, he believes the win will be a turning point in their season. He told LUTV : "Yeah, obviously a good result for the team. I mean, where we were at before coming into this game, we said we needed a turning point within our season and I think we got it today."
