Leeds United news as Jack Harrison claims point against Crystal Palace is 'crucial'

Here are the this morning's latest Leeds United headlines on Tuesday, April 26.

Jack Harrison on 'crucial' point at Palace

Leeds United played out a 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace last night, as Jesse Marsch's men laboured in their performance but Jack Harrison stated that the team were 'happy' to come away with a point. The winger - speaking to LUTV - claimed that a draw could be 'crucial at this stage,' with Burnley and Everton just a few points behind the Whites.

The draw saw Leeds go five games unbeaten and pick up consecutive clean sheets for the first time all season. It also meant Leeds have taken 11 points from five games, which is the highest points total they have managed over a five-game stretch all season. However, the Whites lacked threat against Palace and struggled to hold the ball. Harrison admitted:

"The team are a little bit frustrated in the way we played. We feel like we could have played a lot better but we are happy with a point."

Full Marsch transcript from post-match press conference

Marsch also explained that the point was vital in his post-match press conference. The American took over from Marcelo Bielsa at the end of February and stated that the points tally his side had accrued since he took the job was exactly what he'd have hoped for.

"I think it's a really big point. It gets us closer and closer towards our ultimate goal and again, if you'd say to me five games ago 'In the next five games you'd picked up 11 points,' I would have signed on the bottom line. We still have a lot of things to work on and I take it one game at a time."

Player ratings from Selhurst Park

There was a lot of endeavour but not a lot of quality on show from the Whites at Selhurst Park. That's borne out in the player ratings.

Leeds' man of the match, Illan Meslier is given a seven as he made a number of saves from Wilfrid Zaha and Connor Gallagher. At the other end of the scale, Harrison, Rodrigo and Daniel James were all given threes as the forwards worked hard but struggled to create a meaningful chance.
