Leeds United news as icon claims Whites are 'lucky' to have USA trio amid relegation worries

Here are your Leeds United morning headlines on Thursday, April 6.

USMNT icon makes 'lucky' claim about Leeds United USA trio amid relegation fight

Former USMNT star Alexi Lalas believes that Leeds United are lucky to have their trio of players from the USA and that Tyler Adams, Weston McKennie and Brenden Aaronson would all be able to find moves away from the club if they were relegated.

The Whites, who currently sit in 13th after a huge 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest earlier this week, face Crystal Palace on Sunday, a match which could see them jump up to 12th if they overcome their relegation rivals once again.

But if their form takes a turn for the worse and they finish the season in the bottom three, Lalas has claimed that he's not worried for the US-contingent at Elland Road and that they'll find top-flight teams to buy them instead of having to play in the Championship.

"Their value, or their potential to go some place and to step up, is not necessarily tied to the relegation problems that they're having," he said on his State of the Union podcast.

"I think they will be looked at as bright spots within a darkness. I think McKennie, I think Tyler Adams [and maybe Aaronson]... are going to be fine if Leeds go down. There are going to be teams that want them."

The problem Javi Gracia may face with his Leeds United future as big calls made

Javi Gracia knows all too well the demands of a modern day football manager. The Spaniard may be new to the Premier League but is accustomed to the cut-throat nature of the English top flight and modern day football.

It's a sport that often reflects society, with instant rewards sought and the immediacy of culture these days reflected in some of the decisions taken. In terms of that immediate impact and desire for success, the Leeds United board will have a big decision to make this summer when it comes to deciding who will lead the Whites through pre-season and into the new campaign.

Of course, much of that consideration will depend on the division the club find themselves in next season. A victory against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night has strengthened belief of staying in the big show, while a further victory at Elland Road on Sunday against Crystal Palace would put Leeds in a position of strength to really build from in the final eight games.

Supercomputer hands Leeds United enormous survival boost after Nottingham Forest six-pointer

Leeds United now have a 90% chance of staying in the Premier League following their 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest last night according to data analysts at FiveThirtyEight.

Goals from Jack Harrison and Luis Sinisterra ensured the Whites jumped five places in the league table and out of the bottom three to 13th, two points clear of the drop zone.

And now FiveThirtyEight suggests that Leeds have just a 10% chance of ending the season in the relegation zone under Javi Gracia - the lowest statistical chance they've had all season.
