Leeds United news as Hasenhuttl rubbishes Adams speculation & Marsch issues positive injury update

Here are the latest Leeds United evening headlines on Thursday, August 11.

Hasenhuttl rubbishes Adams talk

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has rubbished suggestions linking Che Adams with a loan move this summer. Adams is reportedly of interest to the likes of Leeds United, Nottingham Forest and Everton with some reports indicating he could be allowed to move on.

The 26-year-old was an unused substitute in Southampton’s final pre-season match against Villarreal, and was also left on the bench in last weekend’s defeat at Tottenham. Speaking ahead of the match with Leeds on Saturday, though, Hasenhuttl has claimed there is no way he will be allowed to leave on loan before the close of the window.

He said: “Definitely nothing serious behind this rumour. We are not in the way that we want to loan players like him to anywhere.”

Marsch on injuries

Jesse Marsch has confirmed that Adam Forshaw, Luis Sinisterra and Liam Cooper will all be available for Leeds United this weekend. The Whites travel to Southampton on Saturday and they’ll be boosted by the return of three key figures, who picked up injuries over pre-season.

Sinisterra picked up a hamstring injury in a pre-season friendly with Crystal Palace in Perth and will be in contention to make his debut for the club, while Forshaw (knee) and Cooper (Achilles) have both returned to training and Marsch has confirmed they are expected to be part of the squad that travels to the south coast on Saturday. The head coach has also given an update on the fitness of Junior Firpo, Luke Ayling and Stuart Dallas.

“We’ve had a lot more guys in training this week,” Marsch opened his pre-match press conference by saying. “Adam, Liam and Luis have all in their training and are eligible for the weekend.”

Skubala

Michael Skubala is confident he can help take his Leeds United Under-21s to the next level, both as a team and individually. Skubala kicked off his reign in charge of the club’s youth team last week as the Whites saw off Derby County 5-2 at Pride Park, thanks to four goals from Mateo Joseph and a debut effort from Sonny Perkins.

The Whites will be back in action on Monday afternoon when they host Norwich City at Thorp Arch and they’ll be keen to build on that impressive opening day display by picking up three more Premier League 2 Division 2 points. Skubala, who was appointed at Elland Road last month, has had almost two weeks working with his promising young side and while he admits things will take time, he’s delighted with what he’s seen so far.

“I love the group already,” he said. “I think they’re an honest group, a hard working group and I think I need to gel them together in a structure that in the way we want to play as a club and a philosophy and an identity but that’s going to take time.”
