Here are the Leeds United evening headlines on Tuesday, January 3.
Former Leeds United striker in pole position for next managerial role
Former Leeds United striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is the new bookies' favourite to become the next Crawley Town manager after former boss Matthew Etherington left the club after just a month in charge.
In a statement released by the club on December 29, Crawley's CEO Chris Galley said that the club's "partnership [with Etherington] is not the right fit to carry the club forward", meaning they'll look at other options.
Hasselbaink's last role in management was at Burton Albion, a role he resigned from in September after taking just a point from their opening seven League One fixtures.
His odds of becoming the new Crawley boss according to bettingsodds.com are 3/1, while former Leyton Orient boss Kenny Jackett is at 4/1. Marc Bircham, who manages Como in the Serie B has the third-lowest odds at 14/1.
Max Wober's first words after sealing 'amazing' Leeds United transfer
Leeds United's newest signing Max Wober has admitted that his move to Elland Road 'feels amazing' as he becomes the club's first signing of the January transfer window.
The 24-year-old centre-back penned a four-and-a-half year deal with the Whites, which will see him at the club until the summer of 2027, and comes into the club at a time of desperate need for a left-back, a role he can also play incredibly well.
The Austrian international has had stints in the Netherlands, Spain and his home country but has now taken on the task of swapping Red Bull Salzburg with Leeds in a daring move to the Premier League - but a move he's delighted to make.
Luis Sinisterra injury latest finally gives Leeds United a timeframe for his comeback
Light has emerged at the end of the injury tunnel for Luis Sinisterra as Leeds United plot their star forward’s return to action. The 23-year-old has been missing for more than 10 weeks with a Lisfranc injury, but could at long last be over the final hurdle.
Sinisterra’s glut of goals for club and county between late August and late September boosted his importance to Elland Road. The Colombia international had the makings of the club’s next talisman in Raphinha’s absence, but fitness has been his biggest problem.
A pre-season injury kept him out of the starting line-up for the first four league games of the season. A full league debut at home to Everton would be followed by five starts out of six (suspension denied him the other), but injury would strike again and Sinisterra has been missed.
