Leeds United news as Feyenoord chief hopeful Sinisterra success can lay future pathway

Here are the latest Leeds United evening headlines on Saturday, 10 September 2022.

Sinisterra

Feyenoord general manager Dennis te Kloese is hopeful the success of Luis Sinisterra so far at Leeds United will encourage more South American players to move to the club. Sinisterra has enjoyed an excellent start to life in English football, scoring in all of his first three starts, including two in the Premier League.

The Colombian was picked out by Leeds as a replacement for the outgoing Raphinha after netting 23 goals and providing 14 assists in all competitions for Feyenoord last season. Speaking to Algemeen Dagblad, via TeamTalk, te Kloese claimed Sinisterra’s success could encourage players in the future to take a similar career path.

He said: “If you reach the final of the Conference League, it’s a calling card. Players want to go to Feyenoord now.

“For boys from South America or Mexico the Premier League is a nice intermediate step in their career. They feel they can become better at Feyenoord.

And the fact that we have sold players to clubs like Manchester United, Leeds United and Benfica also helps. If they perform well straight away, like Sinisterra, that again increases Feyenoord’s appeal.”

Contracts

After a busy summer transfer window, the work for Leeds United’s hierarchy is far from over. Victor Orta and company have plenty of conversations to be had on the club’s contract situation, with a number of first team players into the final two-years of their deal.

Should Leeds secure a third consecutive year of Premier League football, it could be a time for Orta and Jesse Marsch to show their ruthless side with some members of the squad. On the other hand, there are several key players with time ticking on their deals that will need tying down long-term.

So with the transfer window now very much behind us, here is a look at the contract status of each player, including a selection of youngsters and those out on loan.
