'Setting up to fail' - Ex-Leeds United goalkeeper on Jesse Marsch's final day game plan
After Burnley drew at Aston Villa in midweek, Leeds United know that they must take at least a point from their final day fixture against Brentford to stand a chance of avoiding relegation. Whether a point would be enough to stay in the Premier League depends on what happens in the Burnley and Newcastle game.
Should Burnley lose, a draw would keep Leeds up but if Burnley draw, Leeds must win. Meanwhile, a win for Burnley would relegate Leeds on goal-difference, even if they beat the Brentford. Ex-Leeds goalkeeper, Paul Robinson has given his thoughts on how Jesse Marsch should set up for the crucial game and has encouraged Leeds to go for the win and not rely on their rivals losing:
"If he [Marsch] sets them up with five at the back and four in midfield with one up top, I think they’re setting up to fail. Defensively, it’s the weakest part of their game. They have to work on that, but in the last game of the season the last thing they want to do is try to keep a clean sheet for 70 minutes because they haven’t done it in goodness knows how long.”

Leeds United injury and suspension list ahead of crucial match
One issue the Whites have going into the final game is a lack of availability of important players. Daniel James and Luke Ayling are suspended after both picked up straight red cards in recent games. Meanwhile, Leeds have had several players ruled out for the rest of the season in recent times.
However, they hope to be boosted by the presence of Patrick Bamford on the bench, though he will likely only feature late in the game if the Whites are pushing for a goal to swing the result in their favour. Read on for the full list of unavailable players.
Leeds United's Championship assurances for Marsch from Radrizzani and 49ers Enterprises
With the very real threat of relegation to the Championship hanging over the club, Leeds must make plans for how they will handle a return to the second tier. Leeds United club writer, Beren Cross has explored what the situation might be should the worst happen on Sunday.
Marsch was asked about this in his press conference and he replied: "We’ve again not had any communication other than to say they have done some behind-the-scenes planning to make sure we’re in good shape in any direction the season may go in. That’s financially, with the player pool, what the future will bring, that we’re very secure and able to move forward in a positive direction, which they said to me from the very beginning."
