Leeds United news as ex-Aston Villa forward dismisses Jesse Marsch issue ahead of Sunday clash

Here are your Leeds United evening headlines for Thursday, September 29.

Former Aston Villa striker dismisses Jesse Marsch issue ahead of Sunday clash

Former Aston Villa forward and BBC Sport pundit Chris Sutton has argued that Jesse Marsch's touchline ban won't matter at all against Aston Villa this weekend.

Marsch was sent off against Brentford for an excessive argument with referee Robert Jones in a 5-2 loss almost a month ago but hasn't served the ban due to postponements and the international break leaving the Whites without a game since September 3.

Speaking in his newest round of Premier League Predictions for BBC Sport, Sutton dismissed the issue of Marsch's touchline ban.

"Leeds boss Jesse Marsch won't be in the dugout after his red card against Brentford last month.

"His side will still play with the same great intensity though, and Elland Road always seems to lift them. At home is where you feel it is going to happen for them.

"Villa got a big win over Southampton last time, but their results on the road so far have been poor, with three defeats out of three, and I don't see that changing here."

Pivotal period could force Leeds United change of tack in January window

Leeds United moved quickly and decisively to secure their targets in the summer transfer window. The Whites identified the need to add to their squad after a season of strife and they wasted no time in doing exactly that.

Brenden Aaronson was landed just a few days after survival had been secured and he was joined at Elland Road by Rasmus Kristensen and Marc Roca before pre-season had even began. Darko Gyabi, Tyler Adams and Luis Sinisterra were completed prior to the club’s pre-season trip to Australia and that gave Jesse Marsch the time needed to integrate the new arrivals before the Premier League season got underway.

The window wasn’t a complete success, though, with late moves for Cody Gakpo and Bamba Dieng falling through after recognising the need to push for an attacking player. United did eventually secure young Italy international Wilfried Gnonto to ensure the club could be relatively content with their window as they reflected on September 2.

Leeds United's court case with RB Leipzig over Jean-Kevin Augustin reportedly adjourned again

Leeds United's court case with RB Leipzig over the €21m the Bundesliga side claim they are owed for striker Jean-Kevin Augustin has reportedly been adjourned again. German publication BILD, claim RB Leipzig are still awaiting a decision which could now come in November.

The International Court of Arbitration for Sport CAS has adjourned the case again with a decision originally expected in September this year. Leeds are still in dispute over a clause in Augustin's loan, dating back to the 2020 season.

The French striker arrived at Elland Road with the club reportedly having the option to buy him on a permanent deal. However, the Bundesliga side claimed this was an obligation to buy, with Leeds claiming extenuating circumstances could nullify the deal.
