Elland Road to not be used if UK and Ireland host Euro 2028
Leeds United's ground Elland Road has not been selected as one of the stadiums to be used for the Euro 2028 tournament if the United Kingdom and Ireland's bid is accepted, according to The Times.
As few as six grounds across the two countries could be used, with Wembley Stadium and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium the only likely candidates for London grounds.
The UK and Ireland are bidding against Turkey for the tournament - although Turkey are also bidding against Italy for Euro 2032 which is expected to be an expanded 32-team tournament like this year's Qatar World Cup.

Ireland is expected to have two host stadiums, those being the Aviva Stadium and Croke Park in Dublin while Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland will all have one each.
The ten stadiums that are still in contention to be a host ground for the tournament are: Wembley, the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the London Stadium, Villa Park, Stadium MK, Old Trafford, the Etihad, Everton’s planned Bramley Moore Dock ground, Sunderland’s Stadium of Light and Newcastle United’s St James’ Park.
Stadiums like Chelsea's Stamford Bridge and Liverpool's Anfield pitches have been deemed not big enough while grounds like Elland Road have not been selected due to the local authorities not being able to be persuaded to commit their time and resources to host matches.
The favourites out of those that still remain in contention are Wembley, the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Villa Park, Old Trafford, Bramley Moore Dock, and St James’ Park.
The final dossier is due in April 2023 but a preliminary version will be sent to UEFA in mid-November which will give fans plenty of notice as to what stadiums are more than likely to be used in the hosting of the tournament.
Trio excel as Kristensen and Llorente toil in Leeds United player ratings so far
Leeds United are into their first, extended international break of the season after two postponements and then the expected fortnight off until the visit of Aston Villa. With two wins, two draws and two losses, the Whites are 11th in the league table having played one game less than some of their rivals.
Despite the thrashing at Brentford last time out, United have generally started the season with the right tone. Here, we pick through how the players have played their own parts in the start to the campaign.
We have looked over the ratings dished out in the six league matches up to now and left out those with less than two hours of pitch time to their name, in order to be fair to them. Alphabetically, there’s only one place to start.
Aaronson reflects on 'whirlwind' start to life at Leeds United
Leeds United playmaker Brenden Aaronson says he's had a 'whirlwind' start to life at Elland Road and admits he had doubts over whether he'd be able to cut it in the Premier League. The 21-year-old has made an impressive start to life in the top flight of English football, quickly squashing these doubts.
A solid outing against Chelsea in just his second outing at Elland Road saw him open the scoring as Jesse Marsch's side ran riot against Thomas Tuchel's once Champions League winners. The United States international took advantage of Edouard Mendy's lapse in concentration to rob the Blues' goalkeeper and tap the ball into an empty net.
The 21-year-old's high pressing and willing runs have seen him quickly build up a rapport with the Leeds fanbase with a new song made in his honour after just six games.
