Here are your Leeds United evening headlines on Tuesday, January 24.
Jesse Marsch told January starlet target is 'going nowhere' after fresh claims
Following reports last week that Leeds United were once again showing interest in Birmingham City youngster George Hall, it appears those claims have once again been rebuked by the Blues.
According to sister title Birmingham Live, John Eustace's side will not be cashing in the 18-year-old's promising talent as speculation rises further around his future.
With just a week left in the January transfer window, Hall is currently out injured with a hamstring issue but it was claimed by the Daily Mail that the Whites were 'in talks' with the player.
However, it seems as though the deal won't go through, despite Hall having been linked with Marsch's side for a second straight transfer window which is on course with what Eustace said earlier this month when asked about his availability.
He said: "He’s only just turned 18 – and he’s got an opportunity to showcase himself here. We don’t want George Hall going anywhere."
Simon Jordan tells Everton what to do after Marcelo Bielsa decision with Leeds United admission
Simon Jordan says Sean Dyche would be a more suitable option for the Everton job than Marcelo Bielsa, and claimed that the Argentine would've got Leeds United relegated last season.
Frank Lampard was sacked by Everton on Monday after less than a year in charge at Goodison Park. The former Chelsea midfielder had lost nine of his last 12 Premier League games at the helm, and leaves the Toffees in 19th place.
Former Leeds boss Bielsa is the bookmakers' early favourite for the job, while ex-Burnley manager Sean Dyche is being touted as a serious option. Bielsa famously led Leeds to the Championship title in 2020, before guiding them to a ninth-place finish upon their return to the Premier League.
Bielsa was dismissed following a run of four straight defeats in February 2022, and left Elland Road with the Whites two points above the relegation zone. However, Jordan believes Leeds were heading towards relegation under the 67-year-old and has cast doubts over Bielsa's suitability for the managerial vacancy at Goodison Park.
Leeds United given green light to step up pursuit of Azzedine Ounahi in January window
Leeds United’s pursuit of Azzedine Ounahi has stalled due to Angers’ valuation of the Morocco international, with their £25million asking price almost twice what United are willing to pay for the midfielder.
However, United fans are clear the club should do all they can to secure the 22-year-old having voted him their number one transfer priority.
Supporters were asked to put 14 potential January signings in order of priority in our Rank Your Targets poll and Ounahi was an overwhelming winner, collecting twice as many points as his nearest challenger.
