Leeds United news as Brenden Aaronson eyes 'legendary' status and talks his start to the season

A look at the latest Leeds United headlines on Tuesday, 20 September.

Brenden Aaronson on becoming a club legend at Leeds United

Leeds United's 'American Boy' is hoping to become a club legend following a successful stint with the club. The 21-year-old has impressed the Whites' fanbase in such a short time despite only playing six games of the Premier League season.

Brenden Aaronson has been one of the bright sparks from the new campaign as Jesse Marsch kick starts his Leeds United revolution. His fine start to the campaign has been rewarded with an international call-up alongside fellow Whites' team-mate Tyler Adams.

When asked about how he felt about the 'American Boy' chants at Elland Road, Aaronson told mlssoccer: “They see how much I work and how much I'm willing to work for the team, and I'll always give 110%, and I think that they like that. That's the kind of team we have.

"So that's also amazing to see. I'm really grateful to be at Leeds and I think everybody can see that I'm willing to work 110% and give everything I can to help the team win. And I just want to keep getting better and better and yeah, become the best way I can be and hopefully be a legend for the club at some point.”

Cooper on battling back from injuries and duties as Leeds United captain

Liam Cooper has given an insight into his tough battle with injuries as he nears a return for Leeds United. The Whites skipper is yet to feature for Jesse Marsch's side in the Premier League, but did feature in the Carabao Cup second round tie against Barnsley.

The Scotland international suffered another injury setback in that tie, after missing a large chunk of pre-season.

Speaking to The Official Leeds Utd Podcast, Cooper said: "I'm good. Obviously my pre-season has been a bit of a nightmare. I picked the injury up when I was training in the off season and it wasn't quite right when I was in Australia."

Marsch facing Leeds United striker headache as Bamford stakes claim

Jesse Marsch will have left Elland Road on Friday night with plenty of food for thought. The Leeds United head coach had allowed a number of senior players to line up for the Under-21s against Southampton and he won’t have been disappointed with what he saw from them.

The likes of Luke Ayling, Liam Cooper, Junior Firpo and Crysencio Summerville used the Premier League 2 clash to pick up some much-needed minutes, while new signing Wilfried Gnonto got a run out, too. However, it was Patrick Bamford who made the biggest impression on the night as he scored three goals to help Michael Skubala’s Whites to a 6-2 win.

Bamford managed to get 75 minutes under his belt, his longest stint on the field since injuring his groin at St Mary’s Stadium against the Saints’ first-team back in August. He has made two substitute appearances since limping off on the south coast, but on Friday he took the opportunity to send a message to Marsch as he aims to win his spot back in the senior starting XI.
